Herdy Lodge - Cosy Family Getaway

Herdy Lodge is a contemporary take on a country cottage (Insta =HerdyLodge) It is within our family smallholding on the Northern slopes of the Eden Valley where we farm our happy flock of herdwick sheep. It has a modern, crisp interior and good ecological credentials inc a wood pellet boiler and "passive" building design. It has a private drive and garden with a terrace looking directly onto the lakeland fells. Plenty to do nearby: Takin Tarn, Hadrian's Wall, Lakes and Dales, Rhegged Centre.

This off grid Hygge log cabin sits in the beautiful village of Langwathby in Cumbria. The cabin sits close to and above the river Eden, with stunning views and the chance to have total time out to relax or explore. Nestled in the Eden valley, it is very close to explore the Lake District or the Pennines and not far from the Scottish border. Transport is easy, 5 minutes from jct 40 at Penrith, on the A686. 1.5 hours from Newcastle and a 10 min walk from the Carlisle/Settle/Leeds station line.

It makes an excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.. or a perfect stop off point on your way to or from Scotland.

We have kept the character of the original building and added fresh and appealing homely touches. The lovely kitchen, lounge and upstairs bedroom with king size bed and adjoining bathroom is clean, contemporary yet cosy with all modern day comforts. Wetheral is just 3 miles from junction 42 on the M6 and the village has great amenities including a Village Shop and post office, Cafe, and a great pub just across the road! Wetheral Railway Station is a short walk from the cottage with regular trains to Carlisle and Newcastle. Easy access to Gretna Green, the Lake District, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
