Relax over Summer @ the Lighthouse

(Edit 22/12/25: Unfortunately we were affected by the recent fires in Dolphin Sands. Our block was burned, but the Lighthouse itself was saved by firefighters. The beautiful surrounding bush has been lost. See photos) We think our architecturally designed house is a perfect romantic getaway. We built it for the view, so you can relax with a coffee/wine and enjoy the best of Tasmania's east coast, in comfort. Stroll along the deserted beach & read or listen to our record collection by the fire.

The Cabin

Beloved cabin on the edge of the National Park. The Park starts where the deck ends. 100m to the beach on a direct bush track. You can hear the waves from bed, and with no buildings or streetlights between you and the park, the sky is a wonder at night. Perfect base for exploring or staying in. Uninterrupted views of the mountains, cosy living area with warm lighting and an efficient wood fire, simple kitchen, sunny bedroom, and a deck with a clear view of the mountains you've just climbed.

Driftwood Cottage allows you to unwind amongst the sand dunes at this unique and tranquil getaway. A mere stroll from the beautiful and deserted Nine Mile Beach, and moments from the world famous Melshell Oyster Shack at Moulting Lagoon. There are local vineyards aplenty, Freycinet National Park up the coast and Swansea just ten minutes away - staying longer to explore will only enhance your experience at Driftwood.

Aplite House: Luxury Eco Accommodation

Aplite House is an architecturally designed, solar passive, and solar-powered home, built from Tasmanian materials and designed by the Hobart firm Dock 4. Humbugs Bay of Fires is a serene and beautifully appointed beachfront escape overlooking one of Tasmania’s most iconic beaches and seaside hamlets, Binalong Bay. Our beach home is a calming escape, perfectly suited for 2- 4 guests. It’s named after the Nature Reserve, “Humbug Point” that borders Binalong Bay.
