Nestled in the heart of the Tai Poutini Westland National Park and only a 7-minute drive from the Franz Josef township, our cosy little cabin in the paddocks offers stunning views of the Southern Alps and ample privacy in a rural setting. Relax after a fun day of hiking and sightseeing while enjoying our spectacular West Coast sunsets, listening to the native birds, stargazing on the deck or simply being lulled by the rain.

Picturesque one bedroom self contained cottage

Situated on the Inland scenic route [High way 72] and only a short drive to Mount Hutt ski field and the Ashburton Lakes /Lord of the Rings country.For a longer drive Geraldine is only 30 minutes away and the Gateway to the beautiful Southern Lakes . The cottage accomodation is totally private set in a beautiful garden setting in the grounds of the historic school house built in 1876. 20 minutes to Methven and 1 hour to Christchurch international Airport. Not suitable for infants/children.

Franz Josef Gateway Cottage

This cottage is in newly built condition finished in January 2019. Ideally located in Whataroa township only 25 km north of Franz Josef township. We recommend bringing your own food for cooking as Whataroa has limited eating options however there’s several restaurants available only 25 min drive into Franz Josef. Hosts also operate a Helicopter Glacier flight business and offer special rates for guests. This exceptional cottage is the perfect holiday escape in a relaxing, quiet rural town.

The Nest at Hurunui Jacks (outdoor bath & firepit)

Secluded & cosy ‘off-grid’ Eco camping pod overlooking the Hokitika River, right next to the West Coast Wilderness cycling trail. Located in a private setting you have the space to yourselves. Equipped with an outdoor hot shower, camp style kitchen with running water. There is no power or wifi so you can enjoy the natural surroundings. So sit back and enjoy the glorious West Coast sunsets. Located only 3km from Hokitika town and beach and 3km from the airport.

A warm, cosy and quiet space with a private garden. Free Wifi Downstairs is the living room / kitchenette area. Upstairs and downstairs are connected by external stairs (see photos). Awesome outdoor bath - great for stargazing. There are balconies on three sides of the tower.

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Local café and pub 5 mins walk. 20km drive away from one of the Top 5 Coastal Walks in NZ. 45 min drive from Franz Josef Glacier. Local walks including Hot Pools and 2 of NZs oldest Rimu trees. The local café closes around 3pm so if you are passing through Hokitika or Franz Josef you may want to get food from the supermarket. We are unable to offer early check-ins or late check-outs
