This home was wonderful. It was quiet and secluded yet close to area attractions. It was clean and we were made to feel very welcome. We hope to stay there again

This location was a bit more rural than we were expecting, but turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. We had a blast. It had more than enough space and really felt like home. Loved it!

A very clean house, with a great home feel. Lots of space and very close to a lot of different things to do. I recommend the silver lake sand dunes and country dairy restaurant.

This beautiful home was clean, artfully decorated, peaceful and comfortable. We spent a great deal of our vacation on the porches! We watched birds at the feeders and read books during the day, and listened to the chorus of crickets and cicadas in the evenings. Ruth's hand-made stained glass art she has hanging in most of the windows was a real treat to live with, as each piece changed with the light throughout the day. Like many reviews have mentioned, we appreciated the convenience to local attractions and groceries, but loved the privacy and peace. We had some concerns about staying in a county home because of allergies, but were extremely pleased to find the house was very clean, even the family books and photos and nick-knacks seemed dust free. The outdoor cat was perfect-friendly but never noisy or pesky in any way. We are quiet nature lovers and this was a wonderful retreat for us. With other friends I might have enjoyed some of the other features we did not even use-like the big TV and grill. Thank you for sharing your lovely spot Ruth!

Ruth's place is truly amazing. In the 22 years I've been going to the silver lake area Ruth's place is by far the best I've stayed in. I would recommend it to friends and family. I plan to return next year and every year after that it's still available.

Ruth's County Digs are a great place to get away for the busy area of Silver Lake, but close enough to Silver Lake and everything else in the area. Quick access to a Bakery only about two miles, with a great selection of baked goods, fruits and vegetables during our six week stay. Ruth even arranged to have a cord of firewood (well seasoned & split) delivered and stack at a very reasonable price. And I must say, there must be more wood to a Michigan Cord than anywhere else, (it was abou(URL HIDDEN) 12 not a normal(URL HIDDEN)8). Ruth's is very accommodating, knows all about the area, her home is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.

My family stayed at Aunt Ruth's for a week. We were happy with the house and location. My husband and I have an infant daughter (she's just starting to crawl). We also had family join us for part of the week (brother in law with his wife and 3 kids; in laws). For a few days, there were 10 people in the house (6 adults, 3 elementary kids; 1 infant). The house fit all of us but we're a close family so we're okay with tight quarters. While you're at the house, Ruth lives in an RV behind the house (barely visible through the trees). The house has a cabin feel and is eclectically decorated. SLEEPING The bedroom layout is: -Main floor: bedroom with 1 queen bed (you could fit a pack n play in this room if needbe, but it'd be tight) -Loft: open area with 1 queen bed (there is space in this room for an air mattress or kids on the floor) -Basement: 2 double beds (It's important to note that this is an UNFINISHED basement. We had planned for our elementary kids to sleep down there, but it's a little musty and creepy so they refused to sleep down there - they ended up on the floor upstairs in the loft with their parents. It worked out okay, but would have been nice if their parents didn't have 3 kids sleeping around them! My in-laws ended up sleeping in the basement for the few days they were with us. Ruth has outdoor cats but there was a litter box in the basement, so I think they're in with her sometimes... if you have an allergy to cats don't stay here! There is also a couch in the basement and one in the living room if you have people that want to sleep on the couch. Aunt Ruth's is in a private wooded area so it's perfect for camping if you like that sort of thing! OUTDOORS There's a nice outdoor fire pit area. Both the front and back porches have furniture for sitting. There are some bikes and a kayak in the barn, but we didn't use them. KITCHEN The kitchen is spacious enough for a family. Most basic cooking/baking supplies are present. Ruth told us we could use anything we needed to in the kitchen, which was generous. There is a basic toaster, coffee pot, tea bags, silverware, dishes, etc. There is NOT a dishwasher! There is a full sized fridge/freezer. The fridge was mostly empty and open for our stuff. The freezer only had a small amount of open space. We fit a bit of frozen food (steamable corn packets, one bag of chicken breasts) and that made the freezer FULL to capacity! There is not an ice maker, but there are a few ice trays. BATHROOM There is only one bathroom (shower, toilet, sink). The shower is nice (tile walls, appears fairly new). There are beach towels. Ruth said we could take these...

Respuesta de Ruth:
I rented my house to two people and an infant, didn't think a discription of the basement was necessary. Also the litter box is just in case they sneak in uninvited. The cats A R E outside cats. One should not assume.
