“Norwich Castle was completed in 1121, although originally designed to be a Royal Palace, no Norman King actually ever lived in it. In 1883 worked started to convert the Castle into a museum, opening in 1894, which it still exists as today! The Museum has incredible archaeology, natural history, regimental history galleries, as well as fine decorative and contemporary art. Tours of the castle keep, battlements, dungeons and Victorian Shirehall courthouse are available. It’s a great day out for kids and adults alike and is a wonderfully interesting educational environment. The castle is open all year round, Monday to Sunday with admissions for a family (with 2 adults) available at £34.85. Visit here for more information and prices. ”

“A joy to walk around inside, and outside through the cloisters, and don’t be surprised if you end up walking out into the most beautiful little mews of cottages at the back! The cathedral was begun in 1096 and constructed out of flint and mortar and faced with a cream-coloured Caen limestone. An Anglo-Saxon settlement and two churches were demolished to make room for the buildings. The cathedral was completed in 1145 with the Norman tower still seen today topped with a wooden spire covered with lead. Several episodes of damage necessitated rebuilding of the east end and spire but since the final erection of the stone spire in 1480 there have been few fundamental alterations to the fabric.”

“Norwich Market is an outdoor market consisting of around 200 stalls in central Norwich, England. As one of the largest and oldest (11th Century!) open-air markets in the country, its rich heritage and traditional appearance is sure to charm you. Browse through the stalls and you will find a fantastic range of goods and services; whether you're after clothes, children's toys, jewellery, household goods, flowers, keys cut or shoes mended, the market has it all! ”

“If it’s retail therapy you’re after, then the three storey Chapel Field shopping centre in the heart of Norwich is the place to go. With all the high street shops under one roof, Chapel field was built on the old Caleys chocolate factory site in 2005. But if you are looking for something that little bit different, then a short walk from chapel field brings you to the famous Norwich Market, with its striped canopies and a treasure trove of market goods, or a few minutes on, and you find yourself in ‘the lanes’ of Norwich with some great boutiques, cafes, independent stores, including the hedonistic ‘Head in the Clouds’ shop that opened in Pottergate in 1971...and hasn’t changed since!”

“Completed in 1145, taking 50 years to build, Norwich Cathedral is one of the greatest architectural structures in the county. An astounding, iconic structure which boasts the second highest spire in England, standing 315ft as well as the second largest Cloisters. There are free guided tours available which are a perfect way to take in the 900-year history of the Cathedral. If you’re very lucky, you may see the Peregrine Falcons which have nested on the spire! You’re most likely to catch a view of these magnificent creatures between March and June from the observation point located in Cathedral Close. ”

“CASTLE & MUSEUM - is an intact medieval royal fortification in the city of Norwich, Norfolk. It was founded in the aftermath of the Norman conquest of England when William the Conqueror (1066–1087) ordered its construction because he wished to have a fortified place in the important city of Norwich. It proved to be his only castle in East Anglia. It is one of the Norwich 12 heritage sites. In 1894 the 'Norwich Museum' moved to Norwich Castle and it has been a museum ever since. The castle holds significant objects from the region, especially archaeological finds and natural history specimens. ”
