Driving to downtown Victoria is a 20-30 minute drive depending on your choice of route.
With a minimum of planning, public transit can be a safe and easy way to go about visiting Victoria and its surroundings. A flat fee of $5 allows you to travel all day in the system.
The network of bike trails is expanding annually and offers a safe and fun way to go around. You can put a bike on a bus (not an e-bike)

The narrowest alley, where you find unusual shops in the heart of China Town. A great quick visit, that will amuse everyone in the family. Then go eat in China Town.

Good walking shoes!
You will want to walk in the streets of Victoria and beyond the main downtown core: go visit James Bay to see the houses where people used to live including our famous artist Emily Carr. And go walk the trails in our many many local parks: get a forest immersion. From the short Devonian Park to the longer trails in East Sooke Park: taste the local environment.

We are very informal here in Victoria, and more so in our little village just outside Victoria. Jeans are seen everywhere.

the best fun is at the beach: it's free and private.
Our private beach is not accessible to the general public: only 3 properties have access to it, and we are practically always the only ones using it. Search for beach glass, interesting rocks, walk on the logs, build castles, scramble on the shore with your teens for a little expedition, get your toes in the water. Endless adventures.
