Excellent Italian food--choice of 3 menus. Eat in only for lunch; but excellent deli section for take out. True happiness to eat here.

Sightseeing

At 2 km from us, a visit to the Point gives you a great sense of the violence of the conflict as well as tells you the moving story of the Rangers who climbed the cliffs on D-Day morning to take the point. You can go in and out of bunkers, and kids always enjoying running around the site.

Old Bayeux wasn't bombed during the landings, so it's one of Normandy's few cities where the medieval quarters still exist. It's such a pleasure to walk these streets. As well, there is the UNESCO-listed Bayeux tapestry, the Cathedral, the Battle of Normandy Museum, and a moving British cemetery.

Arts & Culture

Caen is William the Conqueror's city: there's the remains of the ducal castle, as well as abbeys built by William and Mathilde. There are also museums of art (modern and other) and a museum of traditional life in Normandy. Caen is also great for shopping.

Shopping

Normandy is famous for its quality products. Les Halles offers a great selection of regional food specialties, including the yummy Isigny caramels, as well as some artisanal handicrafts. This is where I go for gifts to take for family and friends back home.

Drinks & Nightlife

La Fregate is a nice little bar that often offers quality live music. If there's no music, it's still a nice place to have a drink, with a terrace overlooking the sea.
