From our local town to the surrounding areas
Our nearest and local town, Akumal, is the closest place for supplies (shops, pharmacies, restaurants, and beaches).
Akumal is a little colourful beach town and it is best known for being the nesting grounds for the endangered green sea turtles. As a result, there are loads of tours visitors can take to snorkel or even dive with them. Akumal has numerous restaurants and cafes on the beach or near the jungle.

About a 30min (28.5km) drive south, you will find Tulum. It has become rather popular over the last couple of years, trending in yoga retreats, shamanic ceremonies, and of course best known for its Mayan Ruins. Tulum also has beautiful beaches, restaurants and bars.

Tulum
About a 30min (28.5km) drive south, you will find Tulum. It has become rather popular over the last couple of years, trending in yoga retreats, shamanic ceremonies, and of course best known for its Mayan Ruins. Tulum also has beautiful beaches, restaurants and bars.
Drive 40mins (40.6km) north and you are in nightlife central! Along 12th Avenue, you’ll find Coco Bongo, and countless other clubs, bars and restaurants which are open late on the weekends! There is also a shopping strip, great for souvenirs, not too far away from the nightlife.

Playa Del Carmen
Drive 40mins (40.6km) north and you are in nightlife central! Along 12th Avenue, you’ll find Coco Bongo, and countless other clubs, bars and restaurants which are open late on the weekends! There is also a shopping strip, great for souvenirs, not too far away from the nightlife.

You can explore the jungle on a zipline or explore under the rock floor and venture through caves and swim in cenotes (underground rivers). It is a great place for families and couples if you’re looking for some more wild, jungle fun.

We highly recommend hiring a car
Although a car is highly recommended, you can do just as much exploring using public transport.
It’s about a 15-20min walk to the main road, and I must admit it is quite a nice walk. From the entrance, along the main road, you can flag down a bus (looks like a taxi mini-bus).
Another option is to walk to Akumal and from there you can wait at the bus stop or hire a taxi. It’s about a 5km or an hour walk.
