About an hour drive from here, in the Superstition Mountains, lies this gem of a trail. It does require some driving on dirt roads to get back there, but not too rough. There is a parking lot and bathrooms at the head of the trail.

A 1/2 hour drive from here, into Scottsdale, will land you at Camelback Mountain. A must climb for any hiking enthusiast coming to the area. The trails are of the difficult nature, with some scrambling at points, but the views are amazing all the way to the top. A good challenge, but one that can be done in a few hours.

Echo Canyon Trail and Recreation Area

This is a neat place to drive to (although some hiking trails do lead to it also). It'll get you to the top of South Mountain with wonderful panoramic views. We suggest picking up some lunch or dinner on the way up. There are several picnic tables and some benches as well. Caution: The roads are quite curvy so if you go to watch the sunset, use caution when coming down in the dark.

Dobbins Lookout

This is our go to for pizza delivery. New York style pizza. They even have options for pizza bowls (low carb) or cauliflower crusts. Their greek salads are pretty good too as well as their boneless wings.
