This pub has been refurbished recently and is totally stunning - it backs onto the river and the general ambience is wonderful. Dog-friendly too! We usually end up here after a busy day walking the Ullswater Way and sailing on the Steamers :)

Ullswater is our favourite lake - it has everything! Stunning mountains provide the backdrop and the lake is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Our favourite day out is walking parts of the Ullswater Way and combining it with a trip on the Ullswater Steamer Boats.

Ullswater
Ullswater is our favourite lake - it has everything! Stunning mountains provide the backdrop and the lake is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Our favourite day out is walking parts of the Ullswater Way and combining it with a trip on the Ullswater Steamer Boats.
We absolutely love this walk and although it's a 40 minute drive from the cottage to Grasmere, it's a totally stunning drive - you'll want to stop along the way and take photos! Starting out in Grasmere village (with a little of the famous gingerbread in your pocket to keep going) it's approximately an hour and three quarters round trip. Do take a picnic to have at the tarn - it's exquisite! And it's a safe, easy hike - still mountainous, but nothing scary at all, so it's suitable for all the family if they are mobile.

Keswick is a wonderful day out for all the family. There are museums, quaint shops, a theatre, pubs and cafes galore ... oh, and all with the wonderful backdrop of Blencathra and the stunning Derwentwater. Highly recommend a day trip there.
