Drinks & Nightlife

A great bar with a wonderful crowd. When the restaurant is open in the back, it's the best wings and burgers for miles.

Parks & Nature

Created by John McLaren, who also created Golden Gate park and the New York City Central Park. This park is great and is largely undiscovered. From Mission Street, this easily takes less than an hour to go, walk for a while, and come back. Note that you'll be walking about 10 blocks uphill. Walk up Excelsior Ave. Look up and see the blue water tower at the top of the hill. Keep walking up Excelsior till you get the the entrance to the park. Enter the park. Stay on the pathway walking forward. In about 500 feet from the entrance, you’ll hit a fork in the path. Left goes up the hill to the water tower (and a fantastic view of the city). Right leads down to the duck pond, which is also grand. By the water tower view, there is no railing, so keep kids safe. In the duck pond, there are often dogs swimming, which can be fun to watch.
