This station is located in one of my favorite areas, Ueno. It's chaotic, packed, and a little bit old fashioned. I think there were probably many areas like this in Japan 40-50 years ago. Check it out

This is the closest station to the apt. It's a 5-6 min. walk. Best way to access the station is through the Peacock supermarket "mall" to the elevated bridge to the North entrance/exit of the station.

I think of it as the grungy, hip area of Tokyo and consider it as one of my favorite areas to spend a day on a weekend.
If you need a dryer for your clothes instead of hang-drying in the bathroom or the balcony doorway, come here to use the dryers. 100 yen for I think 7 minutes. I usually let it run for 400 yen and it seems to do the work. Large washing machines are available as well. It is about a 2-minute walk from the apartment and is open 24 hours. Shares the same address as "Why Juice" juice shop, which is right next door.
