Green Spots

My favorite (the best) Seattle Parks! Seattle Parks are great for people watching and the ones I have listed are generally spacious enough that you can also find your own quiet corner as well. The ones on this list also have fantastic city views and are great spots for picnics and you will also often find Seattleites on blankets sunning and hanging out :)
Volunteer Park is a large rolling wooded park nestled next to some of the most gorgeous historic homes in Capitol Hill! Bring a blanket and take a nap in the fields with a variety of Seattleites, read a book under a tree, check out the Volunteer Park Conservatory with an impressive variety of plants and flowers (weird hours check website), run or pace yourself to the top of the water tower for 360 views of the city and if you get lucky you can run across weekend events of all kinds on the outdoor stage (or check the website ahead of time if your're not feeling super lucky :). We've come across Shakespeare plays, latin dance performances and multicultural fairs just by chance!

Super unique retired utility property turned public park with a cool grassy hill with spectacular view of Lake Union and the city, especially at sunset! We love grabbing food to go at Cafe Turko which is a whole experience in itself and having a picnic here! :)

Huge wooded peninsula great for longer in city hiking and biking bordered with a beachfront (not necessarily for swimming, the water is melted snow from the mountains :) with mountain views. Check out the picturesque light house at the tip of the peninsula and Daybreak Cultural Center.

Such a beautiful and easy to access park on Lake Washington. I love to grab a blanket and lay on the grass with lake and mountain views of the Olympics and My Rainier (in the right weather). A lot of people will have gatherings here like picnics etc. You also can actually swim here... it's still cold but there is beach access and it is a great way to cool off on a hot day. Be careful because sometimes the contrast between the lake water and heat can be a bit drastic if you aren't careful. It's fun to bring something large and floaty and drift around but but be prepared for possibly choppy water conditions.

I love walking the city streets but if you want a little more of a beachy water vibe head here! The trail starts at the Olympic Sculpture Park and walks along the Puget Sound. Great way to connect with nature in the city!

Mostly Just Views

These spots have spectacular views of the city, so you're going here for the experience, the pictures, maybe a little relaxing to take it in and then moving along :)
This is one of the most famous Seattle views located in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood, which is located atop Queen Anne Hill. This small streetside park has a cool sculpture great for photos, lots of people traffic and a perfect view of the city including the Space Needle. It is not uncommon to see at least one wedding a day happening here...or at least wedding photos. Walk down Highland Drive with the park on your left and you will pass another small park and walk along a brick wall for about a mile with gorgeous mansions on your right and views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains on your left. When the brick wall ends, turn around and go back to where you started :)

This fantastic view of Seattle is a little bit of a secret, hidden just south of I-90 off of 12th Ave S. You can pull off and grab a parking spot directly facing one of the most beautiful views in Seattle and there are also a couple benches to grab a seat and relax. I love this spot for sunset! There is also a super popular photo destination around the corner from a bridge over I-90...the Jose Rizal Bridge. You probably passed it on the way to this park and saw people standing on the bridge...leave your car at the park and if you are on 12th with the park on your left, walk down 12th until you come to the first light and take a left onto the bridge and you have arrived (the bridge is also 12th Ave S). You will likely see at least one person with a huge camera taking professional photos :)
