Food scene

This is a small restaurant with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful vineyards. Even on a rainy day it's a lovely place to visit. I recommend popping in to their Cellar Door for the $6 wine tasting. If you have time, stay for a meal, you won't be disappointed.

Brilliant Italian food everytime and fun staff. It's a busy place in an old building with great atmosphere. Kids love it too. Expect loud laughter from other diners and staff. If you want a quiet date night, ask to seat upstairs.

The water falls are an easy walk from the main information centre. Great after lots of rain. In winter, bring a coat and beanie. This is inside a National Park, so you need a parks pass (buy online or in visitor centre) displayed on your windscreen. It's about an hours drive North-West of Bellerive. There are some cute antique shops/markets on the way (New Norfolk & Ouse). Park near the visitor centre & cafe complex. There are open grass areas for kicking a ball around and some children's playground equipment too. We love to occupy one of the stone huts on the property and bbq our lunch inside. Each has an open fire & the wood is supplied for you.

The Huonville area of tasmania is simply beautiful. Quaint shops, cool cafes, lots of organic produce and a stunning river. Our kids love going on the paddle boats (like riding a bike on water) from Huon Jet. Once day we will try the jet boat too. It's about 40 minute drive South- West from Bellerive.

This local church has a wonderful Op Shop that been operating now for nearly 60 years. They sell all sorts of second hand goods, fruit and veg, home baked cakes and biscuits, plants and more. Open Wednesdays 9:30am-3:30pm and Fridays 8:30am-3:30pm. The shop is closed in January. It's really cheap and we love to go there for granny buscuits (pink icing and sprinkles). They also have a little plaground outside.
