A short drive away, in the hidden streets between West Virginia and New York Ave are a couple of interesting restaurants of which our favourite is the smokehouse. Indoor and patio seating. Oh, and there's a winery next door!

A swiss restaurant of all things! Lovely atmosphere, and good range of hearty food. An open kitchen, and delicious cocktails! Accessible via the free H St tram, or a 15 or so minute walk.

Indian take out (and looks even better to eat in). Creative takes on Indian cuisine - Michelin bib we understand coming their way - and super convenient to order from and pick up. Food is flavorful but not super spicy.

Where we take our kids - especially outdoor spaces to run around, ride bikes/scooters and some have ice creams/eateries for after.
Our local playground and splash park - great for kids especially on hot days. It's a 3 minute walk via the car pad, with a small playground, turf field and bike/scooter track.

Just a 5 minute drive or short bike ride, Kingman Island is a nature reserve on the Anacostia with a mixture of trails and boardwalks/bridges for kids and adults alike to explore. Look out for the turtles!

Two wheels are the quickest way to make most journeys in DC. There are numerous services available - Capitol Bikeshare and Lyft amongst others. Make use of the excellent bike lane network and ride safe :)
