Big island with mostly nature. This is were the king in the old times kept his animals.
Nowadays you also find museums, zoo, old ship building area, restaurants, cafés, galleries, old big and beautiful villas etc. here.
This is also where you find Skansen (big outdoor Swedish historical museum and zoo), the old Vasa ship, the general historic museum and other museums.

Explore the archipelago
You can take ferries out in the archipelago. Either from town center or by first take a bus for 30 min to save some time and then jump on a boat that will take you further out to villgaes or wild islands with or without forests.

An easy and nice route to get the feeling of it is to take a ferry to the island and city of Vaxholm (45 min). In the summer a very popular place for both locals and tourists. Perfect place to have lunch or a coffee and enjoying the view of the water, passing boats, etc. Or the old fortress on the small island beside.
