Favorite watering hole for music and sometimes dancing. When you want to feel like you're in Texas a little more strongly... Cowboy hats and boots are acceptable attire always.

Neighborhoods

You can see lovely old houses in Southtown/King William. A great place to take a walk or ride your bike. There are some great neighborhood spots like Beethoven's, Liberty Bar, Francis Bogside, or more upscale dining options such as Battalion or Maverick Brasserie.

This is a 7 minute walk from the place. They have some recreated Texas landscapes, a magical children's area, and some old relocated limestone/timber cabins from the Hill Country. This is one of my favorite places to walk around. Admission fee for entry.

If you want to see a mission that is much more intact than the Alamo, this is the place. You can get a better idea of life for the early mission settlers and Natives they converted. You can also bike here along the riverwalk reach that extends south from the Blue Star Complex. Mission Concepcion is similar and closer to downtown SA but smaller.
