Go here, take čevapi (chevapi) with onion and chese OR ajvar - pepper source. One of the oldest street food in these parts. It has I think turkish/bosnian roots, but its been here for so long it became our local food. Its meat - minced veal shaped like small sticks, I think they call them baby veal fingers :) Best for hungover :)

Check out this one for the food and the view. Its by the sea and we love to go there for a fish food. Meat is also great.

Split is not a sex tourism city. These clubs can scam you. Best to avoid them.

Croatian laws are serious about illegal substances including marihuana.

Drinking alcohol on the streets - not recommended
- you may get fine if you drink in the streets (but probably you will not get fined if you move from the main streets)

Smoking is allowed in almost all bars inside
- be ready if go inside a bar that smoking is probably allowed

Always have cash if you go for bars & clubs

Bars and restaurants are different concepts
Restaurants - eating is a must, no smoking, seated on the tables, quiet atmosphere, booking is advisable
Bars - no food, just drinking, smoking allowed, load music, tables provided but also standing around is ok, no booking possible

Driving bikes - be careful and be visible
No strict laws about these, BUT regular drivers in Split are not 100% used to see bikes on the road yet. I always:
- drive a bike on a pedestrian lane/zone rather then on roads (especially fast roads)
- do not drive a bicycle drunk (you can be fined)
- always safety first (wear helmets and have proper visibility)
