If you've seen "You" on Netflix, you know about Erewhon. It's perhaps the most bougie and new age market in LA, and it also has every specialty food for every dietary concern that anyone could ever have. Their prepared food is also restaurant quality. Keep in mind if you come here that you're going to spend a LOT - it's up to you whether or not it's worth it to do so.

Sightseeing

Griffith Observatory is in the heart of Griffith Park. You can hike up to it from Fern Dell road, take the bus up, or drive up, although parking can be tricky on weekends especially. You can see most of the city from the outlook point - so go at night if you can! Otherwise, they also have an astronomy exhibit and classes you can take that are great for kids.

Visit UCB's late-night shows, in particular, to get a window into one of the most well-known stand-up comedy theaters in LA. Tickets are cheap, but make sure to get in line at least half an hour before your show to get good seats. Franklin Tavern right next door is a good place to get a drink and a quick bite before the show.

Downtown is popular and still up and coming. It simultaneously houses a large homeless population and the best food and drinks the city has to offer. Go during the daytime if you want to walk. Otherwise, take an Uber or Lyft if you're going out for dinner or drinks because parking can be near impossible.

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Public transportation can be unreliable, use Uber and Lyft

Driving in LA can feel like a nightmare, especially if you're driving during commuter hours (7 am - 10 am, 3 pm - 6 pm). Keep in mind, the mileage doesn't matter, the time does. Public transportation is unreliable and somewhat hard to navigate, so I recommend using Uber and Lyft if you don't want to drive. Check out parking options before you go. For example, parking in Downtown LA can be very expensive. Pick a central location to park at where there's a cheaper garage and then walk from there if you can. Give yourself at least 10-15 minutes to find parking if you're driving to meet someone.
Costumbres y cultura

Don't drink the tap water. Seriously.

Just about everyone in LA either filters their tap water or drinks bottled water. I recommend filling up a water bottle with the filtered water in the unit, and then bringing it with you wherever you go.
Costumbres y cultura

If you're going out, don't be afraid to dress up!

In LA, women are expected to wear heels and men button-downs - or at least a nice t-shirt and a blazer or leather jacket. Especially if visiting a nightclub.
