Try the totopos (chips) which are made in a manner I've never seen anywhere else. Nice breeze from the ocean at this location too.

Expect to wait up to an hour for a seat at this local institution. The upside is it's worth the wait. Some of the best sushi you will ever have at reasonable prices and that has been verified by true sushi snobs I have taken here.

Great sandwiches. Their secret sauce and the tiny pickles are everything. Grab one for a picnic on the beach but don't litter!

Basic Necessities
Florida's dominant grocery chain does an excellent job at balancing the provision of basics with some gourmet offerings. I love their rotisserie chicken. : P

A small "bodega"-type supermarket with everything you need. Also try their cafe con leche for $1.25 with a guava pastel and pick up their pico de gallo if you want a nice chip dip.

Part of a larger park with baseball fields, tennis courts are free but first come, first serve. There is a sign up system. Research the hours to make sure you don't show up too late.

Renting a Car vs. Uber
I would suggest only renting a car if you plan extensive day trips to far flung places. If you plan to just stay on the beach or otherwise visit nearby destinations such as Wynwood, South Beach, etc., stick to Uber/Uber Pool. While parking in this neighborhood is relatively easy and free, parking throughout the remainder of Miami Beach and Miami is complicated and expensive. Uber Pool is affordable and convenient.
