Restaurants, shopping, amazing views. You can also take a harbor cruise from here and rent S.U.P. paddle boards at the Paddle House. Veterans Park (with a playground)is south of the pier. There is a farmers market here every Thursday morning. To the north of the pier is Seaside Lagoon and King Harbor. If you don’t want to drive to the pier, it will take about 25 minutes to walk. RIVIERA VILLAGE (1800-1900 Catalina Blvd): This is the heart of Redondo Beach. From here, you can walk to the Esplanade to join the other walkers, take a jog on the beach or enjoy a swim in the ocean. This area is packed with great restaurants, Trader Joe’s, coffee shops and cute boutiques. Sunday mornings there is a farmer’s market across from Trader Joe’s. Some of our favorite spots include Yellow Vase and Good Stuff (for breakfast and lunch,) Coffee Cartel (for coffee or tea any time of the day,) Rockefeller, Rebel Republic, Redondo Beach Brewing Company and Mexican. Riviera (for outside lunch and dinner or a drink) and for vegan and vegetarian food we love Green Temple. Or you can grab a sandwich at Sacks on the Beach and head to the Esplanade to watch the sunset.

HERMOSA BEACH the heart of Hermosa is Pier Avenue. There are tons of fun restaurants, pubs and shops. The world famous Comedy and Magic Club is also here. You can swim, surf, sun, and people watch. Don’t forget to visit the Lighthouse Cafe and walk (and dance!) on the pier made famous in LALA LAND! Enjoy breakfast practically on the beach at Good Stuff (healthy!), Henessey’s (pub atmosphere with a patio and rooftop dining) or Scotty’s (old fashioned classic breakfast.) Hermosa is a very lively place and is known not only for its beaches but its nightlife. Check out Hermosa Beach Cyclery https://www.hermosacyclery.com/rentals/ for rentals of bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards.

MANHATTAN BEACH think of Manhattan Beach as Hermosa Beach’s grown up big sister. Home to many Los Angeles area professional athletes this is also a great place to spend the day full of nice shops and restaurants. The beach is gorgeous and you could spend hours walking the beach front path looking at the view and the houses that line the path. There always seems to be a surf or volleyball contest to enjoy as well!

Hiking + Walking + Biking

Biking the beaches in the South Bay is a great way to spend the day. The Marvin Braud Bike Path is a 22-mile paved bicycle path that runs along the Los Angeles County coastline, from the north at Will Rogers State Beach, in the Pacific Palisades, to the south at Torrance Beach.

TERRANEA RESORT (100 Terranea Way, Rancho Palos Verdes): Built on the site of the old Marineland, this is a favorite spot of locals. It will take you about 20 minutes to get there but you won’t regret it. Follow Palos Verdes Boulevard to Palos Verdes Drive West and pass through the beautiful community of Palos Verdes. Magnificent homes and views along the way. There is free parking just before the valet parking. Head to Nelsons for food overlooking the Pacific. You can also just stroll the grounds and have food on one of the picnic tables or on their beach. There are miles of hiking trails and weekend concert series that are open to the public and if you are visiting at the right time of year you might even spot a whale or two! Visit terranea.com to learn more!
