Fantastic food and a great experience. Aurum is one of the more expensive restaurants in town, but it is well worth it if you’re looking for an amazing meal.

The Breckenridge Distillery is another favorite of ours when we’re looking for great food and a fun atmosphere. We should note that the only alcoholic beverages available are cocktails made with Breckenridge Distillery spirits. They’re fantastic drinks, but no wine or beer is available.

The Boreas Pass Trailhead is .7 miles from the house by car. Or you can cut through the national forrest by foot for a 0.25 mile walk to the trailhead. This portion of Boreas Pass is closed to traffic from sometime around October through late May or early June. The pass is available to hikers and bikers year round. Boreas Pass is popular for biking and Baker’s Tank Trail is popular for hikers and bikers. The continental divide is at the top of the pass (approximately 7 miles from the house).

Activities

The focal point for many people traveling to Breckenridge is the world class skiing. The resort is also open for a large part of the summer with fun activities for kids (climbing wall, alpine slide, etc). The Gondola is free year round if you’d like to check out a portion of the resort.

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Getting Around Town

Having a vehicle is a must when visiting Breckenridge, but Uber and Uber Ski are available if you want to head in to town without having to worry about driving back home. Make sure you have 4WD/AWD when snow is possible (October to May). If 4WD/AWD is not an option, AutoSocks are the next best option. Napa Auto in Frisco usually has plenty in stock. You can also order off of Amazon in advance of your trip.

Attire

Breckenridge is a pretty casual town. A sweater and nice jeans would be considered dressy almost everywhere here. You’ll mainly see people walking around in t-shirts in the summer and flannel or ski gear in the winter.

What to Pack

Make sure you bring warm clothes, even when traveling in the summer. Highs occasionally get in to the low 80’s in the summer, but most of the time summer highs are in the 70’s. Summer lows are often in the 50s, so a sweatshirt or light jacket will allow you to enjoy the fire pit at night!

Prepare for High Altitude

To state the obvious, you’ll be at high altitudes in Breckenridge. Make sure you’re well hydrated before and during your stay to help avoid altitude sickness.
