Just down the road in South Hobart is Australia's oldest, still operating brewery. Take a tour inside the factory, or just have a meal and a few cold brews in the modern restaurant and bar across the road in what would arguably be Australia's best beer garden. Even if you don't like beer, the gardens and surrounds are worth the trip (and there's always the coffee machine in the restaurant if you'd prefer something warm!)

Stunning view from the top of towering Mt Wellington / kunanyi. Popular place to play in the snow, but check before travelling if the road is open - it can close if the road is too icy.

Stunning outdoor swimming pool fed by naturally warm springwater with a visitors centre (ice-cream, coffee and takeaway food) in the middle of the Tasmanian rainforest. BBQ facilities under a stone walled shelter. Make the day of it and take a tour of Hastings Caves as well, but the pool is cheap to enter. Is a bit of a hike from Hobart (1 1/2 hours drive) but the drive is stunning along the Huon River with little fishing villages dotted along the way. Stop in Geeveston to break the drive and visit the lolly shop!

Drive from Sandy Bay via Taroona for a beautiful scenic coastal drive, past old historical buildings (and some cool new houses). Kingston beach has some great places to eat including Ebb & Flo, Boho, Bobbie Browns & cool seaside pub and beer garden at Salty Dog. There's also a place to hire kayaks to paddle around the beach.

All outdoors, dog-friendly, by the beach at Sandy Bay. There's also another market in the city. Check https://appleislewinetours.com.au/hobart-twilight-market/ for dates.
