Waikiki is the center of the visitor industry on Oahu. There are many restaurants, shopping, hotels and, of course, Waikiki Beach. A Visit to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and the Moana Hotel will be like stepping back in History as these were the first hotels built 100 or more years ago.

Haleiwa Town is located on the North Shore of Oahu. The North Shore features world famous surfing spots like Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Pipeline. There are two options for the drive to Haleiwa. I recommend taking the option that goes through Waimanalo for your drive out and coming back via the H-1 Highway which will bring you back through town. Plan on a full day of this drive as it can include stops at Beaches, Hiking back into valleys and shopping at art galleries along the way or in Haleiwa town. The shrimp trucks in Kahuku/Laie can be fun as well and there are numerous options for eating.

If you are looking for a scenic drive I recommend that you head towards Sandy Beach, Turn left and head down the coast line past the Makapuu lookout through Waimanalo and towards Kailua. The views of the coast line on the right and the Koolau Mountain Range make this one of the most beautiful drives on the island. Once you get to the pali Highway you have the option to go rignt and head through Kailua town to Kailua Beach which has been listed as the Top Beach in the US in the past. Makapuu Light House Walk/Hike

This hike is an easy walk for most travelers of all ages. Spectacular views are enjoyed all along the way. The upper Walk takes you to the Light house and its views down the Windward coast line. A lower trail will take you to "Peles Chair" where there is a small bay and snorkelling opportunities. Access is by climbing down some rocks so may be difficult for older less agile folks.
