Nature

At just 2,000 colones per person, this is one of my family's favorite places to spend the day! Splash and play in one of the many natural pools, or if you're feeling more adventurous dive off the "high dive" platform or slide down the waterfall. There is a metal ladder on the left side of the large falls; and sliding down the falls is a one of a kind, authentic slice of Pura Vida.

This is a "secret" favorite of ours. While all rivers and beaches are public by Costa Rican law... odds are, you will be able to enjoy this one alone. There is a rope swing about 15 meters to the left of the falls. Be safe, but have a blast!

Translated as Whale's Tail National Park. This is the closest beach to the Buddha, and is considered to be a natural wonder of the natural world. The currents from the North and South Pacific Oceans meet here. Over millennia, these currents created a shelf of sand, volcanic rock, and stone in the shape of... you guessed it... a whale's tail that is only accessible during low tide. Download the free MioCimar app on Google Play or App Store to get the tide chart for your stay, and go 2 hours before low tide. This beach is also where you depart for whale and dolphin tours, and Park Admission is included in the price of your tour. If you are here during Whale Season, please don't miss this chance to see Momma Humpback Whales and their calves.

This is one of our favorite beaches to recommend for families. The beach is well equipped with food vendors, chair rentals, bathrooms, and showers; so it's a local favorite. The natural cove also helps make the waves a bit more manageable for your littles. Note: there is a small fee for parking. 2,500 for cars during the season. It is less expensive after 2pm.

Food scene

This is the best sushi in Uvita, and they have some of the best wines and cocktails that you can find in Costa Rica. Everything on the menu is great, but the Crunch Roll is our family's favorite.

This restaurant is walking distance from the Buddha, and has great bar food in an open air dining experience. It is a reasonable value, and the food is great... just not on the light side.

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Use Waze, not Google or Apple Maps.

When traveling, use Waze. Roadways are subject to landslides, accidents, and any number of other challenges. Waze uses user provided information to give you real time information and re-route you if necessary. Trust me on this one. Waze to get around in Costa Rica.
