Touristic Pathways

8 minutes walk from our Benformoso, a nice historical piece with several historical buildings built right after the 1755 earthquake. On the west side of this square is now a very interesting architectural guide along the street facade of an ancient building which is waiting to be refurbished. Take some time to learn interesting facts about the "Arquitectura Pombalina".

From Praça da Figueira, you just have to walk along the shortest street in Lisbon (Rua da Betesga), to reach this beautiful square. Along times this square has been the stage of many historical events. Artists and writers in the late 19th and early 20th century used to gather in Nicola Café, and arts were embraced when Teatro D. Maria was built. You can still find some tradicional shops, some of them with more than 100 years. From this square you have a world to explore: - Down Rua Augusta do Praça do Comércio; - Up Rua do Carmo until Chiado; - Up Praça dos Restauradores and Av. da Liberdade; - Along Rua das Portas de Santo Antão.
