No matter the season, a visit to the Botanic Garden is always rewarding, regardless of whether it relates to a botanical interest, a joy in flowers or simply for relaxation. Here the different senses are always stimulated: the eyes, via the beauty, shapes and colours of the plants; the nose via the wonderful scents, and the touch, via the feel of the different textures of the leaves and bark. With around 9000 different plant species spread over an area of about 53,000 m2 there is always something in flower, not to mention the diversity of fruits and leaves which are also on show. A large meadow and a pond (which is Spring is full of singing frogs) also tempts visitors to spend time in the Gardens. www.bg.uzh.ch | Zollikerstr. 107 | Open daily | Tram/Bus stop: Botanischer Garten (Bus 33)

The Zeughauskeller transformed from an armoury to a place of culinary delights. Welcome to a house with a long history and tradition. The «Zeughauskeller» was built in 1487 – even before Columbus had discovered America. At that time Switzerland was a bud- ding confederation and much smaller than today. The name «Zeughaus» means that all kinds of weapons and armaments of war were stored and mended in this house. Unfortunately, the Middle Ages were marked by more war than peace in Switzerland. Legend has it that – apart from other histori- cal weapons – the crossbow*, belonging to Wilhelm Tell, was stored here as well. In 1867 a new «Zeughaus» was built and all the weapons were transferred there. In the years 1868 and 1925 there were two changes of ownership and the house was then partially used as a residence. Since 1926 the «Zeughauskeller» has been a peaceful and so- cial meeting point. The weapons are only used as decoration and guests from all over the world are given a warm welcome. On the menu you will find traditional dishes, based on recipes that have been cherished and refined for centuries. A wide range of hearty meat dishes, special sausages and world fa- mous Swiss specialities, such as «Zürcher Geschnetzeltes» (panfried sliced veal with mushrooms in a delicious creamy white wine sauce, served with Rösti) or «Kalbsleberli» (pan- fried calf’s liver, served with Rösti). www.zeughauskeller.ch | Bahnhofstrasse 28 A | Open daily | Tram/Bus stop: Paradeplatz (Tram 6/7/8/9/13/17)
