Thurles is the birthplace of the GAA . The first museum dedicated to telling the story of the Gaelic Games is located here. Lár na Páirce GAA Museum is home to Ireland’s first and oldest collection of Gaelic Games sporting heritage.
There are exhibitions on hurling, gaelic football, handball, camogie, hurley making, sports broadcasting, the Sam Melbourne Collection of GAA memorabilia and much more.

Saint Declan’s Way is a pilgrim walking route linking Cashel in County Tipperary and Ardmore in County Waterford. It follows the route that Declan took when going to Cashel to meet Saint Patrick in the fifth century. In turn, it is the way that Pilgrims have taken to visit Saint Declan’s monastery, holy well and grave in Ardmore for the past one and a half thousand years.

Thurles is a thriving commercial and business centre. There are a range of different restaurants, historical museums, beautiful walks and of course a lively pub scene. It is a great little town to visit!
