The drive to the trailhead is about 2.5 hours from the apartment by car. There are also buses but make sure you check the schedule since they only run during certain times of the year: https://www.stf.no/buss-og-bat-til-fjells/.

There are also buses from Stavanger and you can find more information on www.preikestolen.no. Please note that it can get quite crowded on weekends and in the summertime so I would advise you to arrive early.
