Food scene
Takeaway coffee from the General Store is my usual morning stroll. The kids go for the lunchtime burgers and chicken salt chips! Also a good selection of ice creams and drinks (but not a place to pick up groceries).
The Cafe is currently being updated and is a lovely spot to site and have a coffee, brunch or lunch right across from the beach.
Both dog friendly :-)

I don't quite understand how they make their juices so delicious. Open in the mornings for amazing juices and salad boxes that will leave you feeling great. There are also a few 'less healthy' treats there which are equally delicious.

Sightseeing
This is a fantastic and very manageable walk that offers spectacular views back towards Pearl Beach, and further on toward across the Brisbane Waster all the way to Gosford.
Look out for the sign at the top of the hill between Pearl Beach and Umina and park by the reservoir.
NB there are unfenced cliffs off the trail so that's something to keep in mind with children and pets.

NB there are unfenced cliffs off the trail so that's something to keep in mind with children and pets.
A short walk to the end of Greenpoint Road reveals this reserve which opens onto the rocks and caves overlooking Lion Island and Barrenjoey Head. Clamber over the rocks to make your way to an isolated beach further south, or head north back to Pearl Beach via the rock pool.

Great for kids learning to swim or surf. There are two Surf clubs at Umina, this is the southern one at the Cove, enter from Sydney Ave or Ocean Beach Road.

A great little side trip from Pearl Beach, you can walkover the fire trail for a 1 hour vigorous hike, or 10 min drive to this picturesque town at the mouth of the Hawkesbury river.

A short walk just off the road to Patonga. Not very well marked but the rock formations around this area are really remarkable - like walking on a turtles back. Lovely at sunset.
