The food is 10/10 and the views are Amazing. Hortencias Cliffhanger has earned its reputation as a historical “must see” when you vacation in the Lake Arrowhead Area. Originally a service station and café when it was built in the 1920’s, the Cliffhanger literally hangs over the side of the cliff on Highway 18 in Lake-Arrowhead’s neighboring city, Crestline, Ca. The view on a clear day is over 100 miles, all the way to Catalina Island, 26 miles across the Pacific Ocean from the coastline. The Cliffhanger served as the backdrop for several movies, including the 2007 film, Next, starring Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore and Jessica Biel. The Cliffhanger sat empty for many years, until 2016, when the refurbished property opened under the name Hortencia’s at the Cliffhanger. Hortencia’s now serves up live music, fresh and light Mexican fare, and unbeatable views. Open daily from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Lake Arrowhead Village is the central attraction at Lake Arrowhead, located 15-20 min from the Cabin. It's right on the southern shore, easily accessible from the Rim of the World Scenic Byway. Here, indulge in the lakeside views and several shops and restaurants that comprise this community area.
Head to the waterfront upon parking the car to take in a view of the lake. This waterfront is where the Lake Arrowhead Queen Boat Tour departs and is a staging ground for other aquatic adventures. A wide concrete pathway navigates the lakeside between the water and restaurant patios.
To return to the parking lot, turn onto Lollipop Park Lane and stroll through the lovely pedestrian corridor. This landscaped space has big-name and local shops on either side, offering a wide range of retail. It's also home to the Arrowhead Center Stage Concert Hall, home to the famous Lake Arrowhead Village Summer Concert Series.

This trail is short and along a creek with some small waterfalls and a 10 - 15 foot waterfall near Heart Rock. Some of the small waterfalls could be used as natural water slides. The trail starts as a paved road and then becomes a dirt trail that can be rocky. The best view of Heart Rock comes from the overlook. When you reach the landing by the big hallow tree trunk, stay to the right, following the painted signs down to an outcropping above the waterfall. Be cautious as you peer over the ledge’s edge at the perfectly carved and completely natural heart-shaped hole in the granite wall alongside the waterfall.
