This is a lovely country gastro style pub. Drinking only area by the bar and log burner can be cramped and the food is generally of a high standard hence the ££. Dogs are welcome and in the summer there is a massive area outside to let kids run around.

We love this place, kid and dog friendly, great food, good price and lovely out door and indoor area. The domestic science shop above allows you to have a wander while waiting for food and it is very relaxed. We often come here for impromptu food or post park run brunch.

You can just come for a coffee or take advantage of any of the other services they offer. We often meet up for a run around the beautiful footpaths then have a light lunch, mooch around the shop (and cheese room) and just love to look at the interiors!! Very friendly, kids welcome but start saving if you plan to do your food shop here 😆

Some say it is also jolly expensive but the coffee and sausage rolls are in my top 3! A cycle ride away and with lots of places in and outdoors to eat. If you go check out Oxstalls next door who run lots of riding competitions as you could sit out in the sun enjoying watching the horses with your jolly lovely food!

This used to be my very secret ‘private’ lake which seems to be rather more famous now! You can pay as you go swim (floats are mandatory- we have some if needed) and often take the kids paddle boarding which almost always guarantees awful weather but great fun! Sun rise or sunsets it is a great spot but can get busy at weekends when the sun is out. Lots of triathlons and swim events including night swims and all year use.
