I would suggest bringing a waterproof layer as Girdwood is located in one of the northern most rainforests and we do receive a large amount of water every year.

Don't feed the wildlife
As we do live a bit in the wilderness, it is pretty common to see bears and moose. These animals can be very dangerous so we practice not leaving food outside (inside the car included). Bears will try their best to get into your vehicle while you sleep if you leave some snacks in there and can potentially damage your vehicle quite badly.
General unspoken rule in Alaska is to not leave food out as unwanted visitors can show up at any time
