Somesville was the first village settled on Mount Desert Island. A short walk, a right as the leave the driveway, is all that is takes to arrive at the village center. There you will find the Mill Pond, Somesville Library, Historical Museum and Gardens +arched bridge and the historic Selectmen's Building, (c 1790). A turn off from the main road leads to other special finds: Somes Pond, Long Pond and Somes Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary.
