BEAUTIFUL ROMAN-GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE OF TAN DINH CHURCH Tan Dinh “Pink” Church is actually the oldest, grandest church in Ho Chi Minh city, dated back to almost 150 years ago. Together with the Notre Dame Cathedral, they become the two most remarkable, colonial-era landmarks remaining till today. Well, we guess this fresh pink colour is what all the hype about!  Everyone loves pink. Especially when it is an intricate pink-and-white Baroque fantasy right in the middle of Vietnam’s most hectic city – Saigon.  Everyday, young Saigonese and curious tourists flock in take amazing check-in photos of themselves against the lovely pinky backdrop. JADE EMPEROR PAGODA (PHUOC HAI PAGODA) The 100 year-old Jade Emperor Pagoda is one of Saigon's most famous religious buildings. Put this atmospheric Cantonese pagoda, built in 1909, at the top of your HCMC attractions visiting list. The Jade Emperor, heaven's gatekeeper, watches over an incense-filled room while hidden chambers harbour woodcarvings and altars depicting scenes from Taoist and Buddhist myths. One hall houses the go-to deity if you're seeking fertility and the upstairs section represents heaven and features the goddess, Kwan Ying. The temple, AKA the Tortoise Pagoda, was constructed in 1909 by Saigon's Chinese population. The pagoda is a photographer's paradise that features ribbons of aromatic incense smoke, robed monks, artful carved figures, Buddha sculptures and a turtle pond. Even if you're not the praying kind you owe it to yourself to check out the Jade Emperor Pagoda. Speaking of the best restaurant in Ho Chi Minh city, you cannot miss out Nhà Hàng Hoàng Ty! It is one of the more authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh city. If you are less adventurous, perhaps this is one of the best restaurants in Ho Chi Minh city to start with! I can’t remember if there’s any English menu but if you go on the official website, there are picture menu and you can just order what you want! In fact, this was the way I ordered! I loved the boiled pork with sour condiments wrapped in paper rolls! If you are adventurous, get hold of the pork ears and be amazed by how amazing the texture is!

A favorite breakfast for many Vietnamese, bánh cuốn (steamed roll) is a quick and delicious day starter. While the traditional is always a crowd pleaser, let’s take a look at some interesting renditions that have popped up. Originally from the North of Vietnam, bánh cuốn is a steamed rice paper roll traditionally filled with minced pork, mushrooms, crispy little shrimp and topped with fried shallots.  _ BÁNH CUỐN CÀ CUỐNG Probably the most unique spin on this dish. The sauce for this version has essence of water bug. Yes. Water bug. It’s got a similar smell of cinnamon, and, when it’s mixed with fish sauce, it takes on this subtle flavor and scent that is often indescribable. Known as cà cuống, this sauce’s allure is in its enigmatic scent and flavor.
