This bistro is a bit of a walk but well worth it for the desserts. The restaurant serves good food too, though it's a bit on the pricey side. We generally eat elsewhere and go here for the desserts. (They're from Cafe Poupon, the best French bakery in the city.)

If you want an “under the radar” experience and you don’t mind walking a bit, head north six blocks and turn left at 23rd street. Seven blocks down on the right (#400) is a white row home that houses W.C. Harlan, a dimly lit bar with a 1920s speakeasy feel that serves good hand-made cocktails.
