Local secret: this is my favorite beach in CDA. Free parking at NIC (across the street from the lake). Easy to haul all of your beach equipment (and children) to the beach. There are bathrooms, a snack shack, volleyball courts, rentals for paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, and more. They also have areas for BBQ'ing. However, if you want a spot where there aren't any people nearby, this might not be the best spot.

This is where I go at least 90% of the time I take my kids to the beach. Tip: It is located right by North Idaho College (NIC). During the summer you can use their parking lot for free. So it makes it very easy to haul all your beach equipment since it’s just across the dike road. (The “dike road” is the road between NIC and the lake. Everyone calls it that and it took me a while to figure it out). This beach also has volleyball courts, and rentals provided by NIC. They rent paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, and more. They also have bathrooms and a snack bar.

My daughter loves to go to NIC beach to jump off of the dock. There's also a couple sand volleyball courts if you would like to challenge the locals or if you just like to sit back and watch!

Yap-Keehn-Um Beach is a great spot to spend a sunny day. The beach was a gathering place for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe (who call themselves the Schitsu'umsh, which means the discovered ones). Thus, Yap-Keehn-Um means Gathering Place in the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's language. Parking is available along River Avenue, though in the summer it can get crowded, so get an earlier start if it's July-September!
