Platanias is a popular touristic beach with many bars, restaurants and hotels in this area. Its sandy beach with clear waters provide the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the Cretan Sun. Its location being close to the city of chania is what draws most tourists here. This long stretch of coastline is well equipped with lifeguards, medical facilities and many tourist shops. There are also many bars and clubs if you wish to party on into the night. There are local bus routes which regularly travel through here, linking it to the centre of Chania and the rest of the island.
