Beautiful architecture integrated to Punta Ballenas rocks. It is also a Museum of Art. The artist is Carlos Páez Vilaró.
The Museum-Studio is in the middle of the large building and exhibits works by the man who built it: Uruguayan genius Carlos Páez Vilaró, a multifaceted artist and muralist par excellence. The rooms are replete with paintings, pottery, and sculptures from different stages in the artist’s life. The Museum also has a video room, showing documentaries about his life and work. It's a must see! Erected on the Punta Ballena riffs, the former house of a renowned Uruguayan plastic artist, the late Carlos Páez Vilaró, encompasses a permanent exhibit of his paintings and sculptures, a restaurant and a hotel. For a cheap ticket you can enjoy the museum and great views of Portezuelo. Ideal to watch spectacular sunsets!
