Mt. Okura was one of the venues for the 1972 Olympics and home to ski jumping events. Today, it holds an observatory at the top (300meters) where you can get on a lift from the base of the ski jump.

The Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium was constructed in 1931 It is one of only a few 90-meter class jumps in the world An event site for the 1972 Winter Olympics, it is still used for competitions today. The Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium is accessible by subway or bus, but going by taxi is recommended. Take a five-minute Tozai Line subway ride from Odori Station to Maruyama Station. The ski jump can be reached by bus from Maruyama Koen Station and then the Line 14 bus to Okurayama Kyogijo Iriguchi (there are two buses every hour, and the trip takes 12 minutes). The ski hill is a 10-15-minute walk from there.
