Every Thursday, the museum stays open late for NightLife, which is an awesome way to see the place without swarms of kids running around. Sip on cocktails while gazing at jellyfish, an albino alligator, and other creatures in the aquarium. Arrive early to score planetarium tickets, and don’t miss the rainforest housed inside a 90-foot glass dome. Don’t be afraid to wear fancy threads to this. Check the website for that week’s theme, because the museum goes all out with decor and drinks to match.

What is there not to like here? There's an aquarium, a rainforest, and a planetarium. Go meet the albino alligator.
Across from the de Young art museum, a modern science museum with a living rooftop garden.
Natural history museum with an aquarium, planetarium & scientists conducting a variety of research.
The planetarium show is incredible (reserve your show tickets online for free after buying your admission tickets). Sit near the top of the theater for the best view. The aquarium is very special, and my son loves the gems and naturalist center. You can check out kids adventure backpacks from coat check and those are also fun, and end with a prize.
