Discover San Pedro de Macorís, 70 km to the east of Santo Domingo. The city started being a small fisherman village, and nowadays it hides nice places like the malecón, with its beach bars to take a cool beer or rum, and the Central Park as well as some others more historic like the San Pedro Apóstol Cathedral or the Cueva de las Maravillas Cave. San Pedro de Macorís is one of the few places in the island where the “momise” typical dances from Antilles take place. Also known as “guloyas”, they say it was born in the dances from the black descendants that arrived to San Pedro de Macorís from the British Isles of the Caribbean. Participants use masks and both music and dance have an African touch. Despite this, when the dances are dramatized, they are based in Bible lessons or British legends. There are three different kinds of dances: Wild dance, where guloyas move in different parts of the city; Father winter dance; and El Codril, in two lines. Visit the town of Juan Dolio just 16 km to San Pedro de Macorís and enjoy a beach day while you choose among the numerous places to try the delicious local food, or stroll in the shops where you’ll be able to acquire an artisanal memento from your holidays. A couple of kilometers by road to La Romana you can visit the impressive Cueva de las Maravillas Cave, a place mixing history and geology.

Ciudad de Peloteros y Poetas, con un malecón muy bello, personas afables. En esta puede encontrar restaurantes, supermercados, bares, farmacias, hospitales y playas.
