The Braemar Gathering has been a highlight of the sporting calendar since at least 1832. Nestled beneath bucolic, heather-strewn mountains, it is the most prominent and well-attended Highland games, drawing vast crowds from all over the globe. From March 2019, visitors will also be able to enjoy the Highland Games Centre. The centre incorporates an exhibition hall, gallery, archive, café and shop. The exhibition explores the living traditions of the Highland games, focusing on the Braemar Gathering and its long-standing royal connections. Housed in The Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion, the stunning new building was unveiled by Her Majesty The Queen in September 2018. The building is named in honour of HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, a keen supporter of the project through his charity The Prince’s Foundation.
