A nice place to see where they fish hatch the local trout to release in the local rivers and streams.

Closed as of January 2022 due to hurricane Fred flood damage. I hope to see it back open by summer! Great for the kids! Here you'll find a nice indoor educational exhibit and a paved outdoor trail exhibit as well. Feed the fish! There are a few good hiking options near here, too.

Learn all about the Wildlife in Pisgah. Great little museum that features some aquariums, terrariums, and lots of photos, models, and info on all the wildlife in Pisgah. AKA The ‘Fish Hatchery’, the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education has large outdoor holding areas where masses of trout wait to be released into the Davidson River. You can buy trout food from a gumball machine if you’d like to feed the trout. From the parking area you can access the trailhead of the Cat Gap Loop trail to the summit of John Rock, one of our favorite hikes in Pisgah. See hiking section of guide book.

Learn to fly fish, explore the paved educational trail, or feed the fish. The Wildlife Center is handicap accessible, kid-friendly, and has tons to learn about. Don't miss this!
