Marineterrein is a nice waterfront park area on a hot day to go for a drink in the afternoon, you will see loads of locals picnicking and swimming here.. Pension Homeland bar does a nice beer!

Skip the Vondelpark: come to the Marineterrein and take a dive in the IJ, visit one of the 3 restaurants, a brewery, a science museum and more green grass to chill out on than you could ever imagine in a busy city like Amsterdam.
