This is also known as "turtle town." Parking is tight, but it is a great spot for seeing bigger schools of fish. It is also the spot for kayaking.
you will most likely be able to see sea turtles either in water or laying somewhere on the sand.
In the 1800's Makena Landing was the dock for Rose Ranch now ʻUlupalakua Ranch. As late as 1948 the cattle were driven by moonlight down the slopes of Haleakala into the surf and herded onto barges
Easy entry/exit with kayaks, if you are into kayaking. We've used South Pacific Kayaks before.
