The museum collections are systematically arranged in appropriate collections. Prehistoric, Classical (Greek and Roman) and medieval collection follow the usual chronological system. The museum, however, contains an Egyptian collection, the only of its kind in the region, and a Numismatic collection, one of the largest such collections in Europe and the world. Although, on the whole, most of the monumental structure of domestic origin, from regions belonging to the Croatian historical area, Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, in contrast to similar museums in Croatia, has a rich collection of monuments and foreign origin. In addition to the already mentioned Egyptian collection, as well as a substantial portion of the material Numismatic Collection, foreign origin and several important collections of Greek and Roman artifacts. In particular, it should be noted collection of Grecian painted vases from southern Italy and Greek origin, a valuable collection of stone monuments of Italic provenience - sculptures, reliefs, inscriptions and others. - (Formerly the property of Count Laval Nugent) and exceptional attention famed wrappings of the mummy or linen book of Zagreb (Liber linteus Zagrabiensis). Archaeological Museum with over 450,000 varied artifacts and monuments, opened in 1846. Also a very nice place to have coffee or drink.
