The Wee house of Malin can be found on the shorefront in Malin Head, down a very steep hill. It is in fact, a little cave, which legend has, that it was inhabited by a holy man and its suggested the holy man was St Muirdhealach. There are stone seat round the interior and legend also claims that it accommodates all that enter it. Beside the cave are the ruins of an ancient church dedicated to St Muirdhealach. The church is roughly 800 years old. The Holy well is located in the natural cavern in the rock on the shore directly below the church. The well was blessed by St Muirdhealach and is said to have healing properties. On the 15th August which is the Feast of the Assumption, there is a pilgrimage here, where pilgrims all over Donegal would take part. This pilgrimage was known as the Malin Well Fair. This is a gorgeous, rugged sea front with easy access by car. It is next to a steep pebble beach with fascinating coastal rock forms. A little gem!
