Great walk from the cottage to Ashgill Force. Half day walk. Some high stiles to cross.

The fall is located on Ashgill Beck and is reasonably easily accessible from the B6277 (which crosses a bridge over the beck just above the falls) or from Garrigill village, downstream of the fall. The waterfall is stunning and the beck downstream of the main fall is attractive in its own right and features several small cascades.

Only 7.9 miles away a 25 minutes drive. I was lucky enough to do a abseil down the waterfall , was amazing!

One of our favourite places to visit- and it is literally at the end of the road. You can do a circular walk to it directly from our garden. Many of our guests love the fact that, when conditions are safe to do so, you can actually walk behind the fall.

Ashgill Force is only a very short walk from Gatecroft. Turn left out of the front gate and walk up the hill (marked with dead end sign) Opposite Garrigill Estate you will see a public footpath. Take this footpath and follow along with the South Tyne on your right hand side. It's a fairly easy walk for most abilities. It does have a few stiles to climb over.
